Software Engineering Manager – IFP Advisors, LLC

DUTIES:
Build and maintain robust data architectures associated to the firm’s data pipeline. Develop efficient data models and schemas to handle business requirements for processing data from outside financial vendors. Maintain and expand the data warehouse with PostgreSQL or any relational database solutions in accordance with the business needs. Manage the firm’s entire cloud infrastructure in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and develop efficient business workflows and applications around the various services provided in AWS. Ensure robustness and constant scalability of the solutions in place for the data pipeline and optimize processes where required to save on time and costs to the business. Oversee the security aspects of the data pipeline and cloud network infrastructure and ensure that the firm’s data and applications are protected and in compliance with the latest industry standard Cyber Security measures. Build and manage ETL processes with data integration tools like IBM lnfoSphere DataStage and Integrate.IO for data coming from various sources to load into the data warehouse. Keep a constant tab on the technology market for new solutions that could be used within the firm’s technology stack and ensure implementation of the latest technologies. Manage and train engineers in the team on all necessary processes while working in an Agile environment. Ensure documentation is made for any new process that is or is to be implemented and ensure documentation for legacy and existing processes are up to date. Constantly evaluate performances and productivity of engineers within the team and perform individual yearly reviews. Coordinate with other departments and managers in the firm and accordingly allocate tasks to engineers in the team depending on the business needs.
REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field required. Three years of software engineering experience required, including: any experience in building and maintaining databases and data warehouse applications using PostgreSQL; any experience working with programming languages (i.e. Java, Python); any experience with ETL processes; any experience working with the Linux Operating System; and any experience with Agile SDLC methodologies. Three years of experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) required (i.e. EC2, S3, RDS). Two years of professional experience required working with any proprietary data integration tools (i.e. IBM Infosphere DataStage) or cloud ETL solutions (i.e. Integrate.io).
