Commonwealth Advisors Seek Familiar Values and Greater Flexibility with IFP

Q3 IFP Press Release

Independent Financial Partners (IFP), a premier wealth management platform serving independent advisors, announced strong recruiting results for the third quarter of 2025, highlighted by a growing number of advisors transitioning from Commonwealth Financial Network.

In Q3, IFP added 10 new advisors, representing more than $400 million in assets under management (AUM) and over $5 million in annual revenue. Among these additions was John Sammut, who officially joined IFP on September 2, 2025, operating as Sammut Wealth Management. Sammut marks IFP’s first recruit from Commonwealth, signaling the start of a broader migration of Commonwealth advisors to IFP.

“The Commonwealth sale provided the perfect opportunity to evaluate what was right for our firm, and more importantly, what was best for my clients,” said John Sammut, Founder of Sammut Wealth Management. “IFP stands out as the ideal partner, providing oversight and operational support, coupled with the freedom to build our own technology and truly elevate the client experience.”

Strong Momentum Heading into Q4

IFP’s recruiting momentum continues to accelerate. The firm has eight additional advisors slated to join in Q4, bringing more than $8 million in expected annual revenue. Seven of these incoming advisors are also transitioning from Commonwealth, with one joining from Osaic — underscoring IFP’s growing reputation as a destination for high-performing advisors seeking flexibility and partnership.

The Advisor Destination of Choice

IFP continues to attract advisors from across the independent and wirehouse channels, particularly:

  • RIAs between $250MM and $600MM who no longer want to operate their own RIA but wish to maintain control of their brand and client experience.
  • Advisors at large firms like LPL or Osaic seeking a more personal, relationship-driven culture while retaining access to top-tier resources and flexible custodian and tech options — without unnecessary administrative fees.
  • Advisors at small- to mid-size firms looking for a forward-thinking partner with a clear vision for growth and innovation.

Executive Commentary

“This was one of the strongest recruiting quarters in IFP’s history,” said Justin Kain, Director of Recruiting at IFP. “Advisors like John Sammut are recognizing that IFP offers a similar intimate culture that Commonwealth once did — one where advisors have direct access to the executive team and a truly customized service experience. But beyond that, IFP delivers more flexibility than Commonwealth ever offered, with multiple advisory custodian options and the ability to curate your own tech stack without paying added administrative fees for tools you don’t need. It’s the best of both worlds: personal partnership and modern independence.”
